Hi #PedsMatch2023 applicants! Navigating the match can be challenging and to keep a track of all the important dates and resources is even harder. We created a 2023 Match timeline to make it a little easier for you by having everything in one place.
2022
JUNE
Read about programs of interest and reach out to the ones you can for any opportunities they have for electives, sub-internships, or away rotations
Some resources to help with this - AAMC's list of participating specialties and programs, Residency Explorer, Doximity, FREIDA, Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), FuturePedsRes
Review eligibility requirements for participating in ERAS, the NRMP Match, and for U.S. state medical licensure for IMGs (NRMP and ECFMG website)
Obtain your ERAS Token and register with your Token at AAMC’s MyERAS website
Start collecting and submitting your supporting documents. ECFMG’s Submission At-a-Glance could come in handy for some directions and information on methods for submitting ERAS documents and the associated processing times.
Approach your letter writers for letters of recommendation to be uploaded on the ERAS portal. Give them ample time to write one.
JULY and AUGUST
Work on your personal statement, curriculum vitae, and procuring other documents for the application. Make sure to check in with your mentors to review your application before submission.
Follow up with your letter writers to make sure they have uploaded your letters and your medical school to make sure they have uploaded the Medical School Performance Evaluation (MSPE).
Supplemental ERAS application opens for applicants on August 1.
SEPTEMBER
Make final tweaks to your application and get ready to send them in. Documents on your MyERAS should be uploaded no later than September 21 in order to be transmitted to programs on September 28.
On September 7 at 9:00 a.m. ET, you may begin applying to programs.
Registration for the NRMP Match opens on September 15 at 12:00 p.m. ET on the NRMP website.
Supplemental ERAS application closes for applicants at 5 p.m. ET.
On September 28 at 9:00 a.m. ET MSPEs are released to programs by ERAS and programs can begin accessing applications. All applications submitted before September 28 will appear to programs as submitted on September 28.
OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, and DECEMBER

2023
JANUARY
January 31 is the NRMP Match standard registration deadline. (You may register after this deadline, but you will be required to pay an additional late registration fee to the NRMP.)
FEBRUARY
February 1: Rank Order List ranking opens.
Create, change, and certify your Rank Order List.
You may make changes to your Rank Order Lists after certifying until the deadline on March 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
MARCH
NRMP Match registration and rank order list certification deadline is on March 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET.
The Rank Order List Deadline is also the last day for your USMLE exam scores to be verified. IMGs must have their USMLE Step 1 and USMLE Step 2CK verified by the Rank Order List Deadline in order to qualify for the Main Residency Match.
March 13: Match Week begins and Post-Match SOAP kicks off.
Check your Match Status on Monday of Match Week at 10 a.m. (EST).
Hold your breaths for the Match Day on the third Friday of March.
If you are matched, you will know the specifics of which programs you matched to on March 17 at 12 p.m. (EST).
You will know if you have Matched, Partially Matched, or Unmatched.
If you are Unmatched or Partially Matched and SOAP Eligible, the Post-Match SOAP has begun.
How to participate in the Post-Match SOAP?
Step 1: Get your List of Unfilled Programs from the NRMP R3 system.
Step 2: Obtain your Program Compatibility Search (PCS) Access from Electronic Residency to help you research and pick the best programs from your List of Unfilled Programs.
Step 3: At 11 a.m. (EST) on March 13th, log into ERAS and start selecting your 45 programs, assigning documents, and applying once you are SURE you have chosen the right programs you qualify for.
March 16: Post-Match SOAP concludes at 9 p.m. (EST).
MAY
MyERAS application closes on May 31 ending the current ERAS season.
JULY
Residency training begins.
