PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
Tertiary/quaternary care referral hospital located in Northern Manhattan
Exposure to high complexity and acuity, our hospital NYP-MSCH also serves as the community hospital for Northern Manhattan so plenty of "bread and butter"
All rotations at our hospital and 4 continuity practices are embedded in the community to help provide increased access to care
Perform transplants, ECMO, advanced cardiac care
DETAILS
Recruiting 28 residents per year including child neurology, physician scientists, and peds-genetics
Exposure to a wide array of fellowship programs and many residents choose to stay!
Many special interest groups (e.g., global health, community health, narrative medicine)
Individualized curriculum and scholarly focus can tailor training around clinical medicine, research, advocacy, and other specific career interests"
LOCATION
CURRICULUM
Rotations are scheduled in thirteen 4-week blocks
Primarily 24h calls or hybrid system with rare night shifts
Morning report and noon conference every day to augment clinical education
Community health and QI curricula are embedded into all three years of training
DIVERSITY INITIATIVES
Long-standing Pediatric Diversity & Inclusion Council comprised of residents, fellows, faculty, hospital staff
Annual celebration of diversity and inclusion symposium with national speakers and workshops
Curriculum integrated into training for all residents
Specific virtual happy hours hosted by Council during interview season
Specific faculty mentorship for all UIM students
Resident attendance at SNMA and other national meetings
